What causes sweaty hands?

Sweaty hands are primarily caused by the activation of eccrine sweat glands, which are abundant in our hands, forehead, and feet. These glands are directly linked to the sympathetic nervous system, which triggers sweating when we are stressed, nervous, or excited. However, excessive hand sweating can also be a symptom of underlying conditions such as diabetes, low blood sugar, or an overactive thyroid. For some individuals, this condition, known as palmar hyperhidrosis, can start in adolescence and persist throughout life.
