Understanding the Formation of Sweat Stains

It's a common misconception that sweat itself is colored. In reality, pure sweat is colourless. However, when sweat patches dry on your clothes, the natural salts, proteins, and oils present in your perspiration can leave a subtle residue. While this often washes out with a regular machine cycle, the real challenge begins when these residues combine with your antiperspirant or deodorant.

If clothes aren't washed promptly, allowing sweat patches to dry and accumulate, a chemical reaction can occur. Over time, the aluminium compounds found in many antiperspirants react with the salts in your sweat. This interaction is precisely what creates those familiar, often frustrating, yellow sweat stains that can be much harder to remove with conventional washing methods.
